Turismo no Espaço Rural (TER)

The "Turismo no Espaço Rural" (TER), is a mode of tourism that aims at a direct and authentic contact with nature, agriculture and local traditions, in a private accommodation as well as a rural and family environment.

There are different types of accommodation called TER:

- "Casa de Campo" These are buildings located in villages and rural areas to provide accommodation services to tourists, respecting a typical local architecture.

- "Turismo de Aldeia" When five or more "casas de campo" located in the same village, town or neighboring parishes, are operated by a single entity, the designation "Turismo de Aldeia" may be used.

- "Agroturismo" These are agro-tourism enterprises located on farms that offer accommodation services to tourists allowing them to follow and know the agricultural activity or participate in agricultural work.

- "Hotel Rural" Hotels are located in rural areas, respect the dominant characteristics of the region where they are deployed and can install in new buildings that occupy an entire building or incorporate a single architectural entity and conform to the same characteristics.

The construction of Turismo Rural may give rise to aid for construction and renovation.
Some plots of land lend themselves to the construction of Turismo Rural, allowing to build up to 2,000 m2.
